Prayer & Healing

God invites us into a relationship with Him that is both personal and communal. He speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, the Word-made-flesh. Prayer is our response to God who is already speaking or, better yet, revealing Himself to us. Therefore, prayer is not merely an exchange of words, but it engages the whole person in a relationship with God the Father, through the Son, and in the Holy Spirit. --USCCB

At St. John XXIII, we encourage prayer, and encourage developing a good prayer life of varying types to praise God, to allow Him to speak to us, to petition God for our needs and the needs of others, and to speak to Him what's on our minds.  There are many types of prayers that can be used.

  • Daily Prayers
  • Novenas
  • Chaplets
  • Devotionals
  • Intercessory
  • Psalms

While the health of the body is extremely important, what is even more vital is the health of our soul. Our eternal destiny depends upon the state of our soul when we die, and whether we are open to the loving presence of God.  Often we have made many mistakes in our lives, and for these wounds, we need Jesus’ healing touch.  -- Aleteia
